Service Technician

Link Engineering Company is seeking an experienced Service Technician.  As a Service Technician, you will be performing various equipment commissioning and customer support functions.

Key Elements of Performance Include:

  • Perform initial checkout and startup of equipment
  • Perform functional checkout and specification verification of equipment
  • Troubleshoot a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical systems
  • Train customers on the use of equipment
  • Perform equipment calibration to ISO17025 standards
  • Provide technical assistance to customers via phone, fax, and e-mail
  • Troubleshoot and perform equipment repairs
  • Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Modify or update existing equipment
  • Perform occasional equipment installation
  • Accurately complete required documentation in a timely manor
  • Work safely and use all available safety equipment

Materials, Tools, and Equipment Used:

  • Personal Computer / Laptop, Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook, or equivalent experience
  • Digital multi-meter (AC & DC volts & current, resistance)
  • Oscilloscope, & Frequency generator & Frequency counter
  • Miscellaneous circuit board soldering and de-soldering tools
  • Miscellaneous hand tools and power tools
  • Miscellaneous NIST traceable calibration equipment (i.e. temperature, speed, force, pressure, stroke)

Required Skills, Abilities, Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 year degree or certificate in electronics (may be waived in lieu of experience)
  • Minimum of 2 years of applicable work experience related to test equipment and industrial electronics
  • Functional and applicable knowledge of electrical and electronic principals
  • Basic knowledge of relay logic control systems, PLC control systems, signal conditioning requirements of various transducers, AC and DC drive control systems, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems and standards, various closed loop PID control systems and theories, failsafe design standards, National Electrical Code, how various transducers operate, various electro-mechanical devices.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting skills
  • Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Moderate amount of US and international travel (approx 35% travel)
  • Safely work with voltages up to 600 VAC
  • Appropriate customer interface skills
  • Properly calibrate and document a variety of circuit boards and equipment
  • Moderate level of soldering and de-soldering skills
  • Correctly read various styles of electrical & hydraulic and pneumatic schematics

Brake Test Engineer / China Liaison

As a Test Engineer, you will be involved in standardized inertia-dynamometer, components, bench, wet friction, sample, and vehicle brake testing as the core assignments. Core tasks associated with a given customer or testing program are: assessment of required versus current testing capabilities, secure and obtain test parts and test fixtures, define test parameters, define overall and detailed test scheduling with laboratory supervisors, update or create control program for test execution on the inertia-dynamometer, support testing staff during test execution, generate test report to submit to customer, explain test results and provide overall test assessment.

Liaison activities include coordination and support of main testing activities for Chinese customers and our business operations in China as well.

Key Elements of Perfomance include:

  • Proactive internal and external customer relationship management
  • Timely and technical test execution
  • Demonstrated proficiency on brake testing and the ProLINK Software Suite
  • Successful completion of the different tasks assigned
  • Carrying over the projects and test programs according to current quality system and the testing practices
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Visual Manufacturing

Position Requirements

  • Fluency in writing and speaking the Mandarin language
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook , or equivalent work experience

Desired skills include experience in brake testing, ProLINK Software Suite (ScriptEdit, VSI, VSI2, RevData Plus, ReportAssist), Autocad, and MS Project.

Test Technician – Transmission

Hands on transmission technician required to set up tests and oversee test operations for independent test laboratory.  The ideal candidate should have a proven mechanical aptitude, experience in automotive transmission testing, and the ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical or electrical problems.  Minimum of 2+ years experience.

Areas of responsibility will include:

  • Setup and execution of transmission subsystem and component testing, including wet friction, hydraulic, and mechanical procedures for automotive, heavy-duty, off-road and motorcycle industries.
  • Execute critical inspection techniques for components throughout the test process.
  • Operate automated test machines and collect/post data using digital controls, instrumentation and associated software.

IIn a team environment:

  • Proactively identify testing issues, continuously improve test practices in a team environment with test engineers and lab supervision.
  • Help develop and adhere to proper material handling procedures of powertrain components and fluids during the test process.
  • Continuously improve lab efficiency.
  • Direct and support machine shop personnel in test part and fixture modification as required to support test process.
  • Assist repair and maintenance personnel as required to support test process.
