Aircraft dynamometers simulate conventional and emergency braking conditions and landings at speeds up to 350 mph.
The equipment is unique in that it combines mechanical and electrical energy to provide maximum testing capabilities and can simulate aircraft weight, windage, drag, thrust and other dynamic characteristics.
Auxiliary equipment, which is utilized to augment test capabilities and automate operations, includes high capacity variable speed cooling and dust evacuation systems, a Static Torque System to simulate parking brake forces, and high response servo controlled hydraulic subsystems.
The dynamometer covers an area approximately 50 feet by 50 feet and has a total mass of approximately 600,000 lbs. Advanced analysis techniques such as FEA are used to insure reliable operation.
The ProLink software package integrates dynamometer operation, data acquisition, data analysis and reporting. The system also provides fail-safe protection of mechanical and electrical circuits by monitoring machine conditions on a continuous basis.
